Copper plays important roles in metabolic processes, e.g. enzyme & chlorophyll formation, photosynthesis, respiration, and the metabolism of carbohydrates and some proteins. Copper is involved in photosynthesis and the binding of cells that support plant structure, affecting stem strength and the development of new shoot and root tissue.
Copper is also involved in activating several enzyme systems related to protein, carbohydrate and Nitrogen metabolism. In addition, Copper forms and supports part of the phenolic compounds used by plants to suppress some disease infections.
Using CU COMMANDER as directed on the label also supports protecting crops against diseases. Do not apply the product to plants that are heavily damaged or stressed due to disease infestations, or under very hot conditions.
SYMPTOMS OF COPPER DEFICIENCY IN PLANTS
Copper moves slowly within the plant, so its deficiency symptoms first appear on new growth. In fruit trees, copper deficiency can lead to the death of new shoots and branches.
